Finally some good news for education in California. Up to this point, for 7 consecutive years, Lecturers and teaching assistants have been consistently laid off, and for most students it was not affordable to enroll in one of the CSU universities.
CSUDH for example has fired 30% of its Lecturers, which had a ripple effect in other universities across the board.
New online Courses will be added, and pay-raises will take effect for Lecturers on all CSU campuses.
Gov’s state budget plan provides CSU with a needed boost - California Faculty Association: "Last week, Gov. Jerry Brown introduced his budget proposal for the 2013/14 fiscal year, which included a much-needed funding increase for the CSU.
The governor proposes to increase CSU funding from the state’s general fund by $125.1 million, while also back-filling $125 million in CSU resources that the system refunded to students and their families as a result of the tuition rollback last fall.
